Song of the Day: Owl City - “Fireflies”

Did you know miracles do happen? For instance, yesterday, I turned on the TV early in the morning and… wait for it… there were actually music videos being played on MTV. AMAZING! More surprising, some weren’t half-bad - like Owl City, a Postal Service meats 80’s Electronic one-man-band which I’m currently enjoying. Thanks MTV for the new muisc… man that’s weird to say.

Song of the Day: Presidents Of The United States Of America - “Cleveland Rocks”

In honor of my SECOND daytrip to Cleveland within the same week (that’s eight hours round-trip, baby), I give you the ultimate tribute to The Forrest City… Really? That’s Cleveland’s official nickname? If you say so.

Song of the Day: fun. - “I’m Not As Sad (As I Used To Be)”

During a writing session with my co-head writer Scott for Plum Street Productions (Web site coming… Any visible work coming… Money coming… Give us a break, we just got started), I was introduced to this amazing over-the-top band from the lead singer of The Format. It’s wonderfully cheesy and makes use of all that I love - horns, harmonies, high-pitched-Freddie-Mercuryesq-singing - it’s all fantastic. Give it a listen, I guarantee you’ll have some sort of opinion (and I’ve never been wrong on that promise before).

Song of the Day: Chairlift - “Bruises”

Because I just came home from my first MidPoint Music Festival, and because they absolutely blew me away while performing, Chairlift gets this small honor of the day… also, my heart. (A blog post on the event coming soon…)

Song of the Day: Matt Costa - “Mr. Pitiful”

In honor of my sexy Blackberry Storm now looking like a sexy iPhone, here’s a song from one of the app-commercials. Catchy, no?

Song of the Day: MuteMath - “Control”

My friend Jesse reminded me of a long lost love of MuteMath, and, really, that’s all the inspiration I need for Song of the Day.

Song of the Day: Tom Petty - “It’s Good To Be King”

Today’s song is Tom Petty’s soothing anthem to aspirations, “It’s Good To Be King,” because - really - it is. As Petty says, “Can I help it if I, still dream time to time…”

Here you go hipsters, see how many indie bands you can name that are mentioned in this song. Whoever finds the most gets…a life?
