It’s easy to say that you love reading, but how about loving books? I LOVE books - sitting down with a new cover and getting lost in their pages is a joy of life. One of my favorite authors to do this with is Neil Gaiman, master storyteller and multiple award-winner. I received the first issue of his Sandman series for my 16th birthday and was instantly hooked for life. After missing him time-after-time, I finally got a chance yesterday to see him speak. I drove four hours to Cleveland with my friend Elle and then waited three hours in the cold - and it was a good thing I did. Not only did I make it into the auditorium (a building that fit 1000 people before they had to start turning others away), I also got an amazing seat right in front. Hearing Neil speak in his deep British accent was a highlight of my year, if not life. He talked about everything from his writing process to his favorite color and I was overwhelmed just sitting there. At the end, he did a book signing (where he signed for everyone in line - what a guy), and wrote “sweet dreams” in my copy of The Sandman: Vol. 4. Neil… I love you.
